Work on the construction of Xiangxi Biancheng Airport started in August 2019. As a regional civil airport covering an area of 3,525 mu (235 hectares), it’s designated to handle 300,000 passenger trips and 450 tons of cargoes annually.
So far, the earth work of the airfield has been completed, and the pavement, supporting facilities, navigational lighting system and the air traffic control projects have been pre-examined. The airport will start inspection flights later this month, and open to air traffic next March.
